Default Bonnet won't close properly

So went to have a saturday afternoon tinker, flicked the bonnet release and the bonnet didn#t automatically pop up as much as it should. Didn't think to much of it went round and released the catch OK.

Went to close the bonnet and now it wont lock in. It'll shut so the catch is on, but wont close fully the last inch or so.

Any clues?

Cheers

My previous 93 WRX's latch had this issue.

I just liberally squirted it over with WD40 and moved the latch in and out many times by hand. then liberally doused it in a light machine oil like 3-in-1. Never had a problem since till getting rid of it (a period of about 2 years odd)...

Same here the other year. Clean the spring and catch area off. The grease just builds up dirt and stuff and the parts just stop working right. Mine was washed and then sprayed with good old WD40 and was ok thereafter. My cable release was also sticking as it had got clogged with dirt, etc.

Lubricate the mechanism with some wd40 and work it gently with a screwdriver until it becomes free then put a small amount of oil on the pivot points in the latch and it should work ok, Its the road salt and other crap gets in and partially seizes it up
