Default hesitating - please help

Hi all

Please help - driving home tonight the car started to hesitate. It happens around 2500 revs in 2,3 and 4th gear. It feels like the turbo doesn't want to kick in. It starts to hesitate and judder a little.

No engine management light has come on

I've checked MAF sensor and given it a clean. It hasn't got wet. I've checked all the pipes that I can see and get to.

CAR DETAILS: 2006 impreza wrx. Mods are: STI TMIC, Full decat afterburner system. Cold air feed. Remap by duncan. 35k on the clock

Any ideas please. I can't get my regular guy to look at it until wednesday

The solenoid is mounted on the drivers side inner wing just before the front suspension strut top.
It is the aluminium thing with 2 pipes coming from it (earlier models had 3 pipes).
Take the pipes off.
Connect green wires under dash, as if doing ECU reset.
Get can of brake cleaner ready
Hold solenoid in a large rag
Turn on ign. DO NOT START THE ENGINE
All valves, sol. etc and fan start to cycle, so lots of clicking.
At this point solenoid should be pulsing away, so holding it in the rag spray the brake cleaner up both ports. Really give it a good internal soaking until you have clear fluid running out of solenoid.
Turn off the ignition and let valve drain / dry out.
Remove pipes one at a time and spray them with the brake cleaner, Let them dry out for a couple of minutes and then re-fit.
Refit solenoid

Done!

If the solenoid is dirty or sticking it can cause irractic boost and drop in boost as thats what its purpose is (boost controller)

Hope this helps

Brill, thanks mate.

Can i use WD40 or should i go and get some brake cleaner?

Do you mean; disConnect green wires under dash?

If this reset's my ECU, will it harm the remap stuff or anything else?

cheers

I would only use contact cleaner or brake cleaner, The 2 green wires with connectors on under the dashboard - connect them you can here all the sensors and switches clicking and this is when you should be spraying your cleaner. When youve given it a good clean, turn off the ign and DIS CONNECT the green wires, let it dry off then reconnect all the pipe work. Done

It wont harm the remap no, all that info is programmed onto the ecu.

thanks for all your help guys, it was a spark plug issue. The spark gap was massive, we replaced them with some NGK 7's and works fine now

cheers
