Default Undeersteer.

Bought my 96 version 2 sti a month ago and did my first trackday in it today at Llandow. Wow what a disapointment, car was an undeersteering pig on the track ! my mx5 was miles better. So my question is what can be done to improve the crap handling ? Will i need a new suspention setup or is there a easier route. Thanks.

what suspension is on it now, what tyres, what tyre pressure, and do you know when it last had wheel alignment done?
crap roads with potholes can put wheel alignment out

You can change the camber and caster to suit on these cars. So get the geometery set up to your liking
24mm ARB on the back will get you oversteer as opposed to understeer.
I used to put higher pressure in the backs too

Suspension is standard, bit of a mix of tyres to be honest, all with good tread though the front nearside is down to the wires after today ! So anyone know where i can take it for a good set up, i am in South Wales.

When I had my 5 year old 215/45/17 Bridgestones RE50 I got a lot of understeer. I changed them to Vredestein sessantas 225/45/17 and the understeer has improved immensely, in fact Im more likely to get oversteer.

If you have a few minutes.

"Number 2 handling mod - tyres"
"Number 1 handling mod - the driver"
