Crank Pulley Wobbling???
My engine started knocking ever so slightly and ive noticed the crank pulley is wobbling madly could this be causing the slight knocking and would i need a new engine. Also there seems to be a ticking as soon as you rev and a squeal when it idles and then it disappears when you rev it. Is this a major problem and could my engine be damaged?

I would advice you not to drive the car anymore , take the pulley off and look at it .... I would bet that rubber damper has split as that pulley is made from two pieces

i was in the same situaion as i needed my car for work. I ended up continuing to drive it, then spent 4 months having to get 1 bus and 3 trains to work cuz i killed the engine.

With the crank wobbling it has probably burred the edge of the pulley as it wont be allowing the belt to run straight and true.
I have a Crank Pulley off a 98 car in my Random Parts For Sale Thread.

If its the bolt that comes loose its worse than the pulley outer separating. The pulley then eats the woodruff key on the crank, and damages the timing belt pulley. I pulled over immediately when mine started knocking, found that the main pulley bolt was loose and just about saved it with a broken woodruff key, minor damage to the slot and timing belt pulley. If it wasn't for the timing belt pulley rusting onto the crank the broken woodruff key would have bent every valve and been a very costly repair. Utter madness driving it until you've found out which it is.

sorry, highjacking a little bit. i have a small amount of wobble on mine so before i but new pulleys:
does the light weight pulley make a noticable difference, i know it should in theory but what about in real ilfe?
does it make a difference changing all the pulleys for light weight ones or save money and just change the crank?
cheers
