Default Upgrades to a GB270

Hi,

I have finally got some cash together to do some upgrades to my GB270.

I have £2k to spend (£500 of that on tyres).

As I know this forum is full of people who give good advice, what mods would you make to it?

Looking for very fast road, with maybe a couple of track days per year.

TIA

Richard

Default £1500 for mods

Brakes and Suspension/chassis mods first port of call, if not already done. Uprated discs and pads (Godspeed) and Whiteline ARB's front and rear and possibly Whiteline ALK then Fast road Geometry setup/alignment. £1500 would cover this new and garage fitted for the ARB's/ALK/Geo.

Unfortunately £1500 won't do brakes, suspension and engine mods unless you get some really good second hand deals!

Engine mods after this/after you have saved up!

Remap, exhaust with sports cat, uprated panel filter will make a big difference over the Prodrive engine "Upgrade" and get you netter fuel economy as well (although not massive). Mines number 037 of the GB270Wagons - becomes a nice car with decent mods!

The prodrive springs with the OE inverted monotube shocks are a very good setup.
Just change the rear ARB to a 21mm one.
Do not get a front ARB as this will bring back the understeer.
ALK and geometry setup is a good idea.
If you want even better ride quality change the lateral arms with pillow ball aluminium ones and the trailing arms with pillow ball ones as well.
Having driven a GB270 the power is enough IMHO to be safe. If you want more, a downpipe with a sports cat and remap should bring you to around 270-290 bhp.
You can change the pads to something harder e.g. Pagid 4-2-1 and when the discs wear out get some upgraded ones or a set of Brembos from a Sti.
My 2c.

Hi Richard, this has been covered few times, usually tips will be same.If you hungry for more power, you need your budget stretch more...
As above ARB is good to upgrade with solid droplinks(CDF Droplink FR,RR set for £120,£120 for rear ARB)
For brakes you can have look for used Brembo with EBC Blue Stuff/Ferodo DS2500(front set used Brembo from £500 plus pads £150-£180,and good discs on the top)
For power increase Downpipe with Sport cat(£250),VF4-VF35 this turbo will bring to 330-350bhp (used cost around £250-£450)...
This are my thoughts and maybe help you...

Thanks everyone for the above. It looks like I will be doing the following:

Rear ARB
ALK + Geometry

When you mention "change the lateral arms with pillow ball aluminium ones and the trailing arms with pillow ball ones as well", what does this actually do, (and where would I get them from)?

Also I had a look for the 21mm rear ARB on the Balance Motorsport webside, but only saw 22mm ones mentioned, would these do?

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks

Richard

They help the wheel to move in a more smooth arc due to the bearing rather than the OE bush.
You can import them from japanparts or Litchfield may stock them:
