My mate works in a local spares company and i asked him if they could supply any octane booster as i couldnt find any locally..
this was yesterday and he told me that they could supply wynn's 10+ octane boost..
picked up today and noticed a diffence, smoother/ bit quicker (apart from problem that the car has) my question is..
i can get the bottle for £2.50 if i buy 10 bottles and i will if it is cheap enough, each bottle states " will raise petrol octane by 2-5 ron" and "treats 70 litres of petrol"
is this cheap enough as it only treats 1.5 - 2 tanks of petrol for about 2ron increase???

Rob,
do you use Optimax (sold by Shell)? I do, I think this is 99ron, super unleaded is 98ron and normal (premium) unleaded is 97ron or less (crappy supermarket fule is the worst).
I think WRXs are designed to run on 100ron so if you used Optimax you would need hardly any octane booster.

Hi jay, i'm using optimax but really wanted at least 100ron petrol so i thought to add some booster...
as far as the car goes, it seems to be running well until i took it to the r/road today and found it wasnt running as well as i thought!!!!!!lol
the story continues!!

Normal unleaded is 95RON, Super Unleaded is 97RON, Optimax is 98.6RON.

Jap spec Imprezas run on 100RON fuel, UK spec Imprezas run on a minimum of 95RON, but run best on 97/98.6ROM fuel.

after putting a few tankfulls of optimax in i decided to reset the ecu to get most out of higher ron fuel.following advice from a service dept. i disconnected battery for 10 mins then took it to rev limiter in 1st and 2nd.i do feel now its a bit more responsive but now tickover is f**ked up.after making a few calls i am now getting told this as happened to others using optimax due to additives in fuel........ triffic!....any ideas?
