i just bought a new sti and its got 20mm hubcentric spacers fitted but i dont think their the right ones for the car, the original studs have been cut down to be smooth with the spacer and im not sure whats holding them on and then the new studs sticking out, one has sheered off. so i want to replace the sheered off bolt or remove the spacers but i dont have the right tool from the looks of it. pic below. can anyone help me??
The centre part of the spacer locates on the centre lip of the hub/brake disc.
The OEM studs go thru the spacer and countersunk nuts screw to them, I guess it depends how thick the spacers arehow much sticks out.
The spacer has its own studs which you screw the wheel on to.
As spacers go these types are better than the ones with screw on stud extensions.
But we had a problem with the countersunk nuts loosening, allowing wheels/spacer to wobble, and ended with a broken stud.
Looks like you need a tool with 2 prongs on to locate in the holes in the countersunk nut to remove, maybe a 4 prong "socket" adaptor type thing?
