Exclamation BL00DY WIND DEFLECTOR BLEW OFF!!!

Accelerated from the traffic lights into a 90-deg turning, and BAM!!! - WTF was that?! Bloomin' plastic wind deflector broke in two and was rattling away against the window etc. (we've got near-gale force winds in Leic today).

So after parking up, I ripped it off and now have an awful looking driver side, with bits of dried out black tape, bad paint, and the 3 or 4 clips with broken off wind deflector still in!

Has anyone got a MY99/00 driver side one, fully intact with no cracks etc.? It's sort of a 'dark' brown/deep cherry red in colour (and obviously semi-opaque) - 'aubergine' or 'coca-cola' lol is a good description! I'll add a pic to this thread tonight of the passenger side one -- actually you should be able to see it in "My Garage"...

Need to fix this asap as it looks awful!!!

Yeah Rig - DO NOT fit them!

They're not worth it: dubious gains on quietening down wind noise - if any?!

Plus, I think they look pap TBH. I only have them on because the previous Jap owner, in his infinite wisdom , decided to fit some (or indeed spec'd the car like that direct from the facotry/dealership, when first bought).

Indeed. And it screws up the paint underneath, so if I decide to remove them permanently, gotta pay £££s on getting it painted/sorted.

It's alright lads, the very reason why I'm removing them is so that Chips Away can do all the laborious tape removal, etc., and make good the paint underneath again, on Wednesday...

* New pair of wind deflectors from Subaru: £175 +VAT.
* Removing them/repainting both roof frames, etc.: £180 +VAT

...Go figure What would you rather do?

Cheers for letting me know how to remove them

Oh, 99gw, did you employ the redoubtable spark plug to remove it all?

It's okay, Chips Away sorted both sides yesterday. And a very good job the chap did too - really happy with the results.
