Default Front Mount Intercooler advice please

Hi All

I'm thinking of upgrading to a FMIC over the next few weeks. I have a hawkeye 06 wrx, hopefully hitting about 350bhp in a few weeks when Duncan has finished working his magic.

I have a STI TMIC at present - I know this is enough for the power. But I'm like a kid in a sweet shop and have seen something a bit sexy.

http://www.mishimoto.com/mishimoto-m...-all-gold.html

I've been advised never to buy a cheap intercoolers system because of bad pipe designs, hope fully with this I can get custom pipes made.

My main questions are:

Has anyone used Mishimoto?

Does anyone see a problem with the size 27.5" x 11.75" x 3" ? (I understand the bumper will need cutting a bit)

And general advice too please.

Thanks, Gez

Well its tube and fin so thats a good start, but the short answer is thats a generic intercooler.

You need to do a search on here for Harvey selling Hybrid intercoolers, as used in very big power apps and many more normal ones.

No idea I think you're mental though unless your getting flow matched headers/uppipe and a quick spooling turbo Lag is no fun at all

It sounds like you think its gonna be really detrimental to the engine power, last thing I wanna do is ruin what I've got

it would go on my WRX hawkeye - in a few weeks time it should be around 350bhp (not sure on torque). Its got a total de-cat afterburner system, 255 fuel pump, cold air feed and a TD05 18g turbo. with STI TMIC

Too soon, wait till you've re-built the gearbox, sorry forged the motor, and bought a bigger turbo !

Sounds fine to me, leave it alone

Put the money towards a turbo blanket and a 6Speed

Do you have the STi scoop and undertray ?

scoop is the same on the hawkeye, haven't got the undertray yet. Was gonna hold out until i've decided about intercooler - Think I'll get the zero-sports undertray, heard good things about it and its virtually impossible to get the sti undertray
