Hi all

I have a 2002 bug eye sti. I dont get much noise in the lower gears but when im in 5th or 6th i seem to get a really nasty grinding noise when the turbo kicks in and it seems to hold back. Any suggestions and it has got a dump valve fitted which i have been told to find an original as the valves loose bhp and response.

Could be gearbox syncroes if in higher revs but need more info buddy

Have you checked the gearbox oil levels and when was the oil changed last?

Thanks for the replies. I havnt check oil levels so ill have a look. It feels like it could be a turbo issue but im not sure. I have taken the BOV off today and went out for a drive. Its seems more responsive so that is going on ebay. The problem didnt seem as bad since the BOV went, its just seems to be in 6th. I can cruise along at 70 but when i put my foot down it seems to pull abit and loose its boost then pull a bit and loose again.
Was also wondering if the noise could be turbo bearings.
