Default Froth in header tank

Hi, Anybody help.........
Checked water level today, nothing showing in header tank, topped up with clean water (did not take very much), drove home 10 miles, checked again this evening and was greeted with a lot of very white froth in the header tank. Cleaned this out with finger and retopped the water, ran a little while to warm up and more white froth, not as much but was still coming. Spotted a slight leak from rad by the drain tap, not enough to leave water on drive. And also the rubber seal on the header cap is split.
Car runs fine and does not overheat, gauge stays in the centre.

No contamination in the oil...

id go and have it sniff tested at a local garage, or call the rac/aa and say its overheating they'll do test at roadside with a blue liquid that will turn green if HG fail. (which i am currently suffering as well).
You defo need to get the rad replaced. i wouldnt drive it until you do as any pressure build up will make it leak worse as that is the weak point.

is your exhaust smoky?

i had no mayo on filler cap, no contamination in oil and still suffered hg fail. fickle things these scoobies lol

Hopefully having tested tomorrow. Was convinced its not HG, as running perfectly, just changed oil, filter and plugs, did flash code and replaced crank and cam sensor along with one coil pack, re did flach code check and all clear... now this... sounds very expensive.

mines runs sopt on as well, no misfire or lumpy running and still pulls like a good un. On boost however water overflows out of the expansion hose and both rad pipes are rock solid

Having it sniff tested today hopefully. Drove fine to work this morning but had to top up water. Looks like it is HG.

Why not sort out the split rad cap and rad leak first
One will allow air to be sucked in when cooling down, the other will let the coolant boil.

Deceided to get new rad cap and check rad for leak (not easy in the rain). Then flush the system and refill with new anti-freeze and see if that sorts it.
Its not running any different than it was and not getting hot, gauge in the centre when warm as usual....

Fingers crossed

Default Froth in header

Had the car into garage and tested using the exhaust emmission thingy they put up the exhaust, held the end in the top of the header tank ran car for 10 mins like this and it did not pick up any exhaust gases. Census of opinion is that at some time someone has put screen wash in coolant overflow bottle and due to the rubber seal on the rad cap being split it has sucked this into the system causing it to froth. New cap on order and complete flush of system planned for weekend, lets hope this clears it.
