Sunroof leak!!
hi my 2001 bugeye wagon has decided to start leaking through the sunroof! there is a fair bit of surface rust around the seal and its leaking through, ive done a temp seal with silicone to see it through until the summer where my mission is to remove the old seal taking the rust back then re-fil and replace seal!!
i then intend to get the roof done in a vinyl! has anyone done this and if so is it harder than it sounds? any advice is much appriciated

I have a MY95 with a retrofitted sunroof, and have had nothing but trouble with it.
Do you actually want a sunroof? Because imo you will never seal them completely, they will eventually leak again. They are water traps, hence why yours is rotting around the seal (mine also).
Mine is so bad that i have even considered reshelling my car!!! I have now decided to fit a new roof skin, which really isnt as hard as it sounds.... Maybe you should look into the other options.
