How many cats in a classic STI?

Ive got a V4 STI type R. I need to put a Cat on it in order to get it through the MOT. I thought I would be able to get away with bolting a center Cat into place but when I rang a subaru scrapper they told me that the STI's only came with a downpipe cat. Can anyone confirm this for me please? Also where can I get one from at a reasonable price?

Yes the sti's only have a cat in the downpipe, I think the UK model has a cat in the centre section.
