Question

I have just fitted four pots to my 93 Legacy, and the inner edge of the spokes on my wheels just catch on the embossed Subaru logo. The wheels were bought from a mate of mine who was running them on a MY99 (four pots as standard), have I done something wrong whilst fitting the calipers, or are my hubs different?

Assuming that the discs are running true, and the discs is in the middle of the caliper, and thats striaght too, I guess the hub must be a little bit different somewhere, the easiest solution is a small shim, any half decent motor accesorie shop should have them 3-4mm would probably do!

Thumbs up

you need to probably change wheels, the inset and outset are different from the earlyand late cars.
in other words the spokes are to far in to the canter of the rim, thus they touch the caliper.
check first to see if the disc is sat in the center of the caliper gap, but normally the dish of the wheel is to shallow.

The disc is in the centre of the caliper and runs true, so I am having some 3mm shims made at work, thanks for the assistance.

Hardly worth having shims made special, I paid a tenner for 4!

Cool

Had the shims made by a machine shop through work FOC, 3mm thick, they work a treat.
I am well impressed with the brakes, they inspire much more confidence than the old ones, I was never quite sure whether it was going to stop before.

Yep - new wheels needed there, or shims.

Sorry to confirm the bad news.

(edit to say you are ahead of the game )
