Default New mods... Already!

So, I said I wasnt looking to mod my WR1 for a while, as i have owned her for just 4 days.

however, don't think I can wait much longer before I start on her... already

I have a few questions you guys might be able to help with:

1) Atmospheric Dump Valve - looking at a bailey one. however, i read that because it is fully atmospheric, and not recirc, it can cause problems with overfueling, and eventually cause damage through the exhaust system - True or False??

2) Decat pipes - Do they make much difference in terms of performance? and if fitted, will my car have issues in terms of decibel levels with the cops, or failing emissions tests at MOT time?

3) FMIC - if fitted without a remap, will I see much difference in performance? I will most likely be looking at new map eventually, but would prefer to get other mods done before looking for remap, to get the best setup out of it

Cheers

1) the only issue is if they leak on part throttle or on boost.

2) and 3) you wont safely see a gain without a remap.

Save money from not buying fmic and dumpvalve to pay for a remap after decatting it.

+1 for simons advice, just spend money on decatting and a map after decatting otherwise you could have engine det, overfuelling etc

cheers guys. FMIC can wait then! What sort of power gain do you think I might see with that?

also, what about problems in terms or Decibel levels with the cops, or emissions levels at MOT?

hmmm....

so whats my best option? changing the cat / decat pipes for MOT wouldnt be an issue, but paying for remaps every time would be.

What does everyone else who runs decat pipes do?

You can get a sports cat, which is more free flowing and pass MOT.

As for remap, you can have yours done with sports cat on, and that'll be it, but you will always want more.

Good luck in your quest to make it breath, and get the best out of the engine, Simon is a top bloke, so maybe get him to remap.

You wouldnt need a remap again for mot, just refit cat and driv off boost and it will pasd mot as it does now.

340bhp / 335lb torque give or take a bit

Ill pay you not to get a Bailey DV, Ive known so many people including my self who have had problems with the Bailey DV.

As for the rest, there is no point in fitting them if your not going to get a remap as you wont get the benefits from them.

As above get rid Bailey DV and rather buy Forge Recirc(around £100).Worth every penny.
About the exhaust get Sport Cat(Cobra is good and cheap, avoid cheap replicas from eBay)
And finally get car mapped and you will see noticeable difference at power and after this just enjoy driving....
