have just looked through paper work and think boost was set at 0.8 bar, is this about right? seems low, but guessing its safer?
so would bigger injectors be much of an advantage?

Doesn't say if the TMIC has been changed either!?!? If not, then that 20g is wholly unnecessary. It'll be ludicrously laggy and for only making from 280+ (because of that tiny TMIC!).

You'll need 550cc, a FMIC, and a remap to release the 380+ potential (but gearbox won't like it).

But I'm guessing, given its spec, it does have a FMIC (and remapped), yeah? If so, then as above, the 20g/2.5 will be rinsing those 440cc inj for all they're worth, and no doubt be producing IRO 340ish. A 20g will work great on a 2.5L given the changes in the 2nd paragraph.

You must get it mapped if not already. That 20g, unmapped, blowing through the tiny TMIC is a liability. Big style! Hell, it's something of a liability even if it has been remapped - the ACTs could go through the roof on that TMIC!

Don't go onto boost when driving it, UNTIL you find out if it's been mapped!

Are you sure it's a 20g, and not a OEM 16g, that's on there? Does the comp cover have a cast-in upswept snorkel intake for the turbo induction pipe?

As above you need to add 550cc injectors too as well as the FMIC (Hybrid GT2 is the known performer of choice with repect to performance/ease of fit/£).

Re the map, that's only something the mapper will know (he know how much needs to be changed in the s/w and what to charge, etc). Do you know what the ECU management is? ESL Live, Apexi PFC, Simtek, other...?

Map changes, you'll prob be looking at around £350 max. But if just so called tweaks are needed (highly unlikely!), then as little as c.£150...

the management is apexi,
so just going to be a case of ringing them and finding out whats been done, but fmic and 550 injectors are going to be the next steps?

Yes.

May I recommend either JGM (he can travel to you) or ZEN in Wellingborough. Both are proficient in remapping Apexi PFCs. (Both outfits mapped my previous 93 WRX's PFC). What they don't know about mapping... isn't worth knowing!

Standard maf and 440cc injectors limit you to 340bhp max.

Obviously serious cash can be saved by buying second hand. But you don't really know what you're getting (and it's such an important bit of kit). There are various makes of injector. For example, you can get 550s in yellow, red, etc. (Just the manufacturers are prob different).

If you don't want to 'risk it', then buy form Lateral, brand new. Be prepared to take a deep breath though...

Also, if you don't get the "phase 1/1.5" types, but the "phase 2" ones instead, then you'll also need to pay around £40 for Carl Davey's "Phase 2 > Phase 1/1.5 injector adaptor kit"...

Oh yes, sorry OP, I totally forgot about the MAF (JGM to the rescue again! ). You'll need to get a Nissan 300ZX Z32's, or v.3/4 STi, "orange label" replacement too!

It all adds up doesn't it?

Also OP, it's worth considering that your gearbox won't like to go past 350/350 odd - it's on borrowed time any higher. You might be lucky, might not.

So with that in mind, then if you wanted to stop at that ballpark, then prob not worth getting the 550s and MAF (but just the FMIC). Although it won't be realising the potential of the 20g power wise - as above, should make 340 odd on the 440s/green label MAF - the turbo should still spool-up nicely enough on the 2.5 motor...

...Such a shame that that's the weakest link, given your great forged engine spec.

If you dont want to spend any more money i would sell the 20g and get
a vf34 or vf35, get it mapped then it will be a real nice road car with that 2.5.

Im sure you will achieve a safe 330-340bhp and a nice torque figure to go with it

Personally, I'd do as si2000 recommends too.

As said, the VF35 on a 2.5L will be a mental spooler (great road car), and still be within your g'box/440s/MAF limits at 340bhp! Win-win.

What's more, if your 20g is a 'proper' harvey or AF version, then the sale of it will more than fund the VF35! and go part way to funding the Hybrid GT2 FMIC, etc.

yer thats true, is the 20g stronger tho? if it is and when i fit the front mount and it spools up fine, and not to lagy, would it be a good idea to keep it on there knowing that its strong and wont give up as quick as others?

Yes, it is stronger - and prob younger too (if you were to compare it to a used VF35, that is).

If you do keep it, get the FMIC and remap, and are happy with the way it spools, then at least you have a 'springboard' for 40-60+ bhp more - if you get those other supporting mods and another remap.

...And also whether you decide to upgrade the g'box or not! (depending on how brave/lucky you feel. ).

2.5 with a 20G is going to be a gearbox muncher TBH.

Unless you drive with alot of mechanical sympathy that is and even then it's not a case of it but when.......
