Yes, replacing the NPS will bring a chunk more power Jay. Yes yours was flickering on/off in 4th upwards as discussed and needs replacing as it was deactivating AVCS and thus reducing power/torque at that point.

The Corsa VXr is a much lighter car though than yours so dont expect to completely breeze by.

I will give you the cost on the part later as mine is being replaced today at service time, it's not too expensive though, it's just getting one from IM that's the issue.
Your car will be feeling laggier between gear changes and restricting the use of the full power band

You can change them quite easily by dropping the rear gearbox mountings. Mine only needed a slight adjustment. Fitting a thin nylon washer normally helps as the switch wears and goes out of adjustment. There is a bit of trial and error involved but it worked fine for years after.

Found in new age cars with avcs and it does exactly what it says on the tin
Basically it tells your car when you are in neutral and takes the load off the engine, when it goes wrong you will normally feel the car isn't as responsive as normal as it stays in the off position

done mine few year ago,not the easiest part to change as its very limited for space ,gearbox mount off and squeeze you arm/hand down the tunnel

Mine was worn when I got my car, was flat as a fart a lot of the time. I removed the old one and thinned a washer down and replaced it with new washer. It made a fair difference and amazing that some people are driving about with them dead and loosing performance. I actually bought a new one but I'll wait until mine starts playing up again before fitting.

Just a quick one guys.

I've had a UK 6 speed installed in a MY06 WRX. When I come to traffic lights / rolling stop in neutral, the engine cuts. Happened today when I came into our estate, turned a 90 degree bend and put into neutral. Engine cut half way into turn, lost power steering and brakes.

I've been told that the NPS is actually reversed (the signal or the 1/0) on the 6 speed boxes and this could be the issue. However, as it only affected AVCS, I didn't think this could be it due to my car not having VVT?

Cheers

Lee

As I said Lee, a mapper should be able to "toggle" the value so it reads correctly...

Well, a decent one anyway...

dunx

P.S. It stalled because the ecu didn't know it was in neutral...

OK - another issue....! Due to the Hawkeye being a drive-by-wire system, the impulse feed cannot be inverted on the ecutek!! Spoken to ecutek and they've confirmed it .... !

As such, Andy N is having to cut the wire from the gearbox sender, install a relay which basically reverses the signal!

Also, due to different ratios, was getting DET at the higher end, that's been resolved and is running a little quicker now by all accounts.
