Default engine management warning light!

hello as a new impreza owner not to sure what lights should come on when he ignition is turned on! should the engine managment light come on then go off once started to prove its working! as ive never seen the light come on, just curious before i strt removing dash to check bulbs! many thanks

CEL should illuminate when ignition is on, then disappear once engine fires.

well looks like i might have a prob as mine doesnt! lucky me guess i will be removing dash is this a difficult job?

oh dear!! the instrument cluster isnt to bad to get out. what year impreza do you have ? has it had anything done to it?

its a 2001 wrx bugeye wagon, no mods that im aware of apart from the rear back box being changed! fuel gauge is stuck in the middle to though! so maybe previous has been looking into this fault! ive only ownd it 2 months so its all new to me as its my first impreza.
