Default Turbo Actuator is it easy to change

hi im in some need of advice please, ive got a 2001 wrx bugeye wagon, is it an easy job to change the actuator on the turbo or does it need to be done by a specialist? im ok with spanners etc but dont want to start stripping it down if there are special tools required to re-build! many thanks

You can do it in situ very easily. The only difficult bit is getting the retaining c clip back on.

is there any adjusting required or is it as simple as bolting on then fiddling with the c clip?

you'll need to make sure there's a bit of preload on the wastegate arm in order for the actuator to hold the wastegate shut, just fit the actuator, adjust the arm so it's slightly too short to get over the wastegate arm, then pull it onto the wasategate arm and then tighten and secure it with the c clip.
