Default Idle issues

Hello all,

I have a 1996 classic sti with a simtek ecu.

Since the severe cold temperatures my car has trouble starting, the starter motor spins over really slow, and the car then gets to about 300rpm for about 5 seconds and then goes to normal.
The car then performs fine with normal driving and on full power, but when slowing down and I put the car in neutral, the revs drop right down to about 100rpm (nearly cutting out) and then the car picks up again.

The car is due a service so I wondered if this was the problem, blocked fuel and air filter, maybe the spark plugs have deteriorated? I don't know if this is a possibility to cause a problem?

The only other thing I was wondering is that last summer I changed the exhaust for a Hayward and Scott mid section and back box, (so I haven't removed any cats) but I was wondering if over time the simtek does not like the change I've made?

Any ideas would be much appreciated as I don't really have any idea what to do.

Thanks

Dan

Well Roger Clarke motorsport mapped the car about 18 months ago and it's been fine until now. I'm going to give the car a full service to see if that makes a difference.
I guess if there is no improvement after that then I will be in touch with rcm, I'm just a bit reluctant to have to make a visit to them as they're about three hours away (one way).

Thanks for the help though guys

Dan
