Default Bloody car wont start v3 ra headache

Right it's had a few starting issues which I put down to the cold as thats when it plays up. I've been getting towed by a mate in his work van and then doing the old stick it in third and release clutch to jump.

Well he went on holiday and the car wouldnt start Tues. Well it started, I got off the drive and got stopped by the other half. Went to pull off and in comedy fashion think I went third instead of first and stalled and that was it. Pushed it down road to a clear spot so bloody things not on drive - great.

Went to halfords and exchanged battery as it's had a few issues and voltage seemed low. Got it changed and no luck. charged it to be sure and still nothing. Turns over and put foot down on throttle and it tries to start but not quite there. Get the odd popping from exhaust and that's it. Fuel pump is priming (walbro) and checked the earth strap all good. Its like there isnt enough fuel? Gauge says I have a just under quater a tank.

I've got a starter off ebay that arrived today so will try that, but not sure it is starter. Plugs are new and I getting a spark so not that either.

All ideas great as tax runs out this month and need to get it off the street.

what ecu are you on? Check the crank and cam sensor and spray them with some wd40.

Well not the starter motor. Just froze my **** off lol.

I'll try spraying those sensors tomorrow as losing light now. Will try get some petrol and check the fuel filter for crap as I'm thinking this has to be fuel related now.

Mine turned out to be the spark plugs, racing 8s just do not like this weather. Switched to PFR6B's and it started.

Yes, 7s for mild through to big power mods; say up to around 600+ bhp.

I had had 7s in my previous 93 WRX - no problems whatever the weather for me (I'll also put them in my current STi 5 when I get it serviced...)

I'm still stuck!! Added fuel incase it was me being stupid.

When I go to srtart it tries to fire and the battery light iluminates on the dash. This normal?

If the alternator had gone would it not be able to start?

7bs but didnt check space but cars ran spot on for two weeks no issue, well apart from having to be jumped every other week which is making me think alternator as the car kangaroo'd at low revs which would also point in that direction.

Can hear pump fine. Need to get them rear seats out for an inspection of filter and pump. Out of work so as ever timing is not great as funds are low without having to buy parts lol.

That sucks.

I'm now being told it's an earth issue.

Anyone know where the engine earth is? Found the battery and a few electrical earths but need to find one from engine to chassis.

I had a bad earth!!!! All working now. Earth the smaller one from the battery to behind front lamp wasnt there. It had been done to below the battery and was sat in a pool of water. Cleaned it up, new bolt and ran to the correct position. Car started first time after this was done.
