I have a set of the STI Genome Defi gauges fitted in my bug sti.

The Oil temp gauge seams to be playing up. When the ignition is turned off all the needles on all the gauges point straight down as they normally do BUT when you turn the ignition on or start the car the oil Temp is all ready saying the oil is at 60c????

Any ideas what's up.

It sounds like the sender unit is faulty or maybe a poor connection.

Check that the sender is earthed, by touching a wire to the sender body and the engine.
Check the connection between the sender and the thinner loom, usually close to the sender.
Check the connections on the rear of the gauge.


If all is as it should be, it may be a duff sender.
