Default Oil catch can?

Mine is metal so can't check if it's full or not ... will car be damaged if it gets over full?

It's RCM style like this:

http://www.zen16541.zen.co.uk/sti_catchcan.jpg

Car only gets used at w/end so will fill up quite slow

Cheers, TX.

I would like to know this as well.

Isn't it meant to be think with oil?

When I emptied mine once it was like water, but dark in colour. I think I might take it off and give it a clean.

^^^^^^^Yes it will contain a lot of moisture from the engine, hence why its better in the can than plumbed back to sump..

Dont think it will damage the engine if its full, better having one that shows you how much is in it, with the small piece of clear hose at the side..

Your catch can is the return to sump type, so basically it's a closed circuit. I have the same. You should (If fitted at Zen) have a Goodridge hose going to the sump plug with the breather hose routed under the car. If everything is working ok, it's fit and forget.

^^ John, mine doesn't return to sump yet (future mod) so will fill over time ... there is a rubber plug covering the hole where the hose you mention would be.

TX if only used at weekends mate i wouldn't have return to sump as it will let alot of moisture into the oil as the motor isn't run long enough to burn it off like a every day driver.
I'd be getting a a little clear pipe attached to the side like mentioned above instead to see when it needs emptying, mine has done 1300 miles since rebuild and has hardly any if anything in it yet mate.

Ah! Just realised the photo is not of your car! I could see the return to sump fitting at the base of the can.
