Exhaust - Straight Swap?
i have an afterburner vortex cat back system on my my05 sti ppp and thinking that a blitz nur spec s rear box would be a little louder on idle/low revs. would the blitz just bolt up to the afterburner centre pipe? will i notice the difference/change that i am after? cheers.

Firstly ,at idle the blitz is no louder than your vortex on tickover,if anything the vortex is a touch louder. As soon as you touch the accelerator the blitz starts to sing and is louder than the vortex. You wont be able to mate a nur spec r backbox to your vortex centre section as it is 3' wide where your vortex is 2.5' unless you elongate the holes. You could however get a nur spec S backbox which is also 3' wide ,but tapers down to 2.5 ' to fit std systems and is a tad quieter than the nur spec r. Also the vortex is a better flowing backbox than the blitz ,so nothing to be gained bar more noise imho.

as much as i like the vortex, it really doesnt sound as deep and burbly as i thought it would. i am kinda loathed to remove the only cat on the car as its a lot of messing about, although i have driven an sti without any cats and it sounds awesome. so it sounds like its not really worth messing about with then. thanks.

how much time/labour/£'s involved in removing a decat pipe and putting the cat back on (MY05 STi)? would obviously have to figure in some kinda remap too i guess. is it really worth it? as my car is a ppp, is the one and only cat in the downpipe? cheers.
