Default Turbo and intercooler options??

Hi everyone,

I am looking to start modding my 06 wrx again after the new year and was wandering what turbo options are available. I'm not looking for silly power but around 350bhp ish would do me. ( for a while)

I've been pointed towards the vf43 from similar age sti. Also sti top mount intercooler.

Also if anyone has any of these parts for sale let me know.

Thanks

Doug

Yeah I know what you mean. I saw a vf43 on eBay and the guy wanted £750 starting bid for it. Just have to keep searching I suppose.

Yep, is still on there. 2nd hand vf43 for £750 plus carriage. Made him stupid offer but got rejected. lol. Am gutted as I missed a nice vf48 recently on fleebay.

Would also consider a decent TD05 18G, possibly. But prefer vf. Let me know if you find anything!

Thats the conclusion im coming too. Think 20g will give too much lag. How does it drive with the 18G? Laggy or ok?

CAIK?

Have a hyperflow TMIC to go on when I do the turbo swap. Looking to do hi flow cat downpipe, centre section & fuel pump too. Already have rear box and panel filter.

Cool. Was seriously considering an 18G and if I cant find a vf then thats the route i'll go down. Cheers.

Standard airbox and uprated panel filter will be good up to 400bhp on the Hawkeye I was told! No CAIK required.

I have a STi topmount for sale here:
https://www.scoobynet.com/private-fo...age-parts.html

Also suspect your current WRX injectors may max out before 350bhp, but worth asking some of the other WRX owners who have gone a similar route.

Hi Doug i would recommend you go for TD05-18G which make easily 350BHP,someone on SurreyScoobies selling for 375£.
FMIC is really pricey for 06,but Harvey have now some prototype of Hybrid, just contact Harvey or go for STi TMIC.

Try contacting Duncan from Race Dynamix, he often has VF43 / VF48 turbos.

Fitted a VF43 with FMIC to my 07 WRX a few weeks ago, well worth it.

Hi all thanks for the comments.

It was Duncan at race dynamix that done the remap on the car already so I will get in contact with him again. The vf's are hard to find think I might go for the 18 g aswel but still looking.

In relation to your comment Jura

I was just going to use a sti tmic if I could get hold of one as that's what Duncan recomended I used for what I wA wanting to achieve power wise. Thanks anyway.

CAIK is Cold air induction kit,but this you don't need until you are going for FMIC.

For TD05-18G(genuine) is better price like SC36 and you will make same power.
STi TMIC is good up to 400-430BHP,your OE airbox is much better in your tune than any CAIK(cold air induction kit) or Induction kit,due OE airbox is good up to 400BHP,stick until you are want go more power(400BHP+) and then go just for RCM cone filter which is more effective than any CAIK.

Doug, the SC36 is based on the 16g, not the 18g, so will spool quicker - a la a 16g! - compared to an 18g.

It also should make the 18g's 360bhp on a 2.0L with supp. mods too, according to Scooby Clinic.

So even though it may cost a bit more than a 'proper' 18g, everything else seems to be 'in its favour'...

Don't they make an SC38 that is comparable to the 18G
