hi , asking a question for a friend . who recently bought a 2000 w reg , classic impreza , which has had a engine replacement before he bought it .
question is what year engine has been put in . the ecu codes is E3 22611 , AE800 , A18-000 D97 .

HOPE someone might be able to help ?

The AE800 was an early MY99 ecu, later replaced with the AE801, these were probably the better (produced more power) ecu's, the MY00 would have been an AE802, all are compatable with the phase 2 UK turbo engine btw.
Any more info on the engine that replaced the faulty one? is it a "phase 2" engine? (coil pack offset to the right when looking into the engine)

thanks for the reply tony , yes the coil pack is to the right . the only reason why he wanted to no the year was , that he was going to get remap , but 96-98 year need replacement ecu , if it had a 99 then could get ecu flash .

A 97/98 ecu wouldnt fit anyway, different plugs on the thing
