It's longer than the 06 downpipe so you need the shorter PPP cat pipe too as yours wont fit with it. Other people have mentioned rubbing issues due to the different angle of the dp, brackets etc. All I can comment on is that my H&S sportscat was fitted to my 53WRX and then I fitted it to my 06 STi no probs, but you have to have the corresponding cat pipe.

Yep that won't work with the PD pipe Gaz

TBH if one of your mates has an MY06 STi cat pipe (which will be short like yours ) you'd be better off swapping out for one of those tbh. Mike Wood @ Prodrive reckon'd they were not far off Sports Cat performance on the new cars

I only fitted the SPorts cat as it was there to be fitted from my old car, otherwise I would have either decatted of kept the OEM DP

Sorry but you are wrong. The dp on a pre MY06 is longer than a MY06. As a system they are equal length but in parts they are different. DP and second cat pipe together for example are the same in length however in parts the MY06 has a shorter dp and a longer second cat pipe. Put a pre MY06 DP on a MY06 second cat pipe and your system if it fits at all will be about 6" too long.

Bit strange how the sport cat we have for cars thats been decatted fits on both varients with no hassle I'm 100% certain its a prodrive one we use but i'll double check I know the imports had a longer downpipe than others.

this is a pic it was removed from an 06 plate car I know because I took it off and has been on several others Name: sportcat2.jpg

Just need to get this right as I want to be able to "pop it on" just before it gets mapped.

Yep although you may still have bracket issues ? do a quick search for PD DP issues, there are at least 2 threads I've read about fitting issues from Blobs to Hawks. I reckon these are easily modified to fit and people may well have been messing about with incompatible heatshields etc

If it's removed from a hawkeye then to have this pipe they MUST have the early second cat pipe too

Prodrive PPP for the MY06's did not include a sportscat so if it has one fitted it has come from and earlier car with an earlier PPP exhaust system

Well i bought a complere WR1 sports cat back system just to get the sports cat, You have to use a longer 2nd de cat pipe its about 4 inches longer on the hawkeyes, meercat exhausts had to add about 4 inches to the WR1 to fit my car. If you look at scorpion exhausts they have 2 different 2nd de-cat pipes one for bugs and blobs and a other for the hawkeye. I would have used that with the WR1 sports cat but my car was being mapped by Andy F two days later. I have loads of left overs .

To re-cap I have WR1 sprts cat with lengthened WR1...2nd de-cat pipe with a Scorpion de- resonator pipe to a prodive back box. Also you have to grind down the flange at the bellmouth as it fowls on the TD04 turbo you will notice it sticks up above the flush. My car flew through its first MOT and still made 282 bhp and 350lbs after Andys map.

So they leave the down pipe on? Any idea what figures they get from that?

IRO 330

Sports cat won't give you a lot more IMHO, which is why if you can get an STI OEM DP straight swap I'd go with that. Would be worth finding the part number as I am not 100%the dp's wrx/sti are OEM different. Only reason to change the DP is for a decat on hawks

Would be worth further investigation as the flow might be the same but the STi one has the bigger transmission to get passed so might have a slightly different bracket arrangement hence part number being different ?

I would keep your set up for the faff value and either get mapped as is, or go decat

Think I might leave it alone, Duncan Graham is going to map it for me after Christmas he said that a sport cat would help overall but am not really chasing big power just want to max the torque and improve the drive.
