Hi there VF34 are great turbo's and are genuine.
With TD05 you have little bit problems buying genuine TD05-16G(if you have look at eBay almost everyone selling the chinesse knock off or fakes)
I have now fitted VF35 and hopefully i will see on RR 330-340BHP.

TD05-18G. I had 1 fitted on a 02 uk wrx with full supporting mods (FMIC, full 3" exhaust, 650cc injectors etc) and got about 360bhp. Well happy with the turbo But like Jura said, only go for the quality TD05s.

i had an aet tdo5 and my on my newage and it was laggy as hell and didn't make that much power only 350bhp with 750cc injectors and the normal bolt on's so stick to the vf's td05's are old tech!!

just a quick one, td05 turbos aint laggy. and if you got 350 from one thats a bloodygood figure to be honist, another thing, why such big injectors for a turbo that size, over fueling i think

you can get that from 440cc injectors with a fpr. or go for 500cc/550cc injectors
i have a td05, and getting 341.4bhp, and 338ftlb torque.
which is more than most vf34 turbos.

the proper td range are very reliable, the vf range are slightly weaker.
except the 34/35 as im sure there not a roller bearing type.

for the costs involved no way i'd drop my vf34 in favour of a td05, even a 20g. mines running 340 with head room to come (still on standard headers, injectors, fpr etc etc) 16g will be a downgrade and if you go to a 20g theres better turbos out there, although may cost a bit more

well my tdo5 was laggy as the tuner even messed with the cam timing to make boost sooner made abit of difference but not much on a jap spec engine too, there outdated turbos in my view.

as for the injectors i only buy once when goin for more power later

understanable then regards the injector size.
i wouldnt say there out darted as they still make that turbo still. there still a bloody good turbo for the money

if all your after around 330/350bhp, its a great little peice of kit.
but as tidgy says aboth, if your going to exceide this then really leave the td range and go even better than even the vf range. saying that, there is a td07 turbo also for over 400bhp.

garat are the bigger range, or as said scooby clinic also have a larger range
and leaqd to beleave they are quite good too

but in respect to this thread, the td05 is very slightly bigger than the vf34.
but unlike the vf34, you can just put an 18g housing on to upgrade it. for next to nothing
you just can not do that with the vf

so, the td05 is the better buy. if you can get the proper make one
heres a graft showing mine:

not getting much lag, beleave me.

IMHO There's not really too much to choose between the VF43, VF35 and a genuine front entry conversion TD05 16G.........they all make about the same BHP / Torque in the real world. I guess the VF34 should spool a little earlier as it's a roller bearing but my TD05 16G was pretty quick off the mark

There's more things that come into play than the turbo comparing the above........ mapping, exhaust, keeping the charge cool etc.

Both the VF34 and the TD05 16G are good turbos. If you have a VF34 fitted then fitting a TD05 16G would be a backwards step. However, the TD05 16G is a rugged turbo capable of producing marginally less power than the VF34 which is roller bearing. The TD05 16G is sleeve bearing and comes originally as a 90 degree entry but can be converted to front entry. Set up properly the 05 16G spools well but perhaps marginally behind the VF34.
A more equal comparrison would be the VF34 and TD05 18G at which point the 18G probably has the edge.

I went for a TD05 16g over a VF35, but its yet to be put on! I'm excited for when it goes one and looking forward to my 340 horses. lol. Jura helped me out loads and it made sense as it was alot cheaper.

well thats may be the problem.
its a p1/sti box & diff. stronger than the normal one fitted, but should cope with lower stresses. i know persons who have ran over 370bhp, and the box held.

i know, i should get the funds for a 6 speeder
