Default Idle when cold

Hey guys i got a coolant leak on my 96wrx which im trying to find where the source is, however when its cold on startup it seems to idle around 2.5k ish? and then drops after a while to nearly cutting out but jumps back into life.. if i drive the car and stop it will idle fine.. Is this due to the leak causing air locks?

Dan

Sounds like a dodgy coolant temp sensor.

This should give you a rough idea of the location

Thanks guys, i ran it cold last night with the header tank cap off, and when the revs die down low and then it kicks itself back up it throws a load of coolant out the header tank quite violently, so im assuming it must be air locks.. but just wondering why i keep geting them?
