Well as most now have holes in them it means that the internals were not up to much, so people have about the same sort of power out of these blocks as they do the open deck ones with the subaru internals.

Weaker if anything, only the original STI had forged pistons in it on a cdb and those were not as good as the later cars.
Dont worry about the block, its the internals you have to think about, the standard odb is good for 500bhp, really you dont need more than that on a road car.
