Default really strange starting problem... would appreciate some help!!!!!

Right, my my2000 uk 2000 has developed a strange starting fault which has meant the car is now sitting outside my sisters and left me carless!!!!

went to work early this morning, no trouble there..... started fine to come home, did a bit of running about and called in at my sisters on the way home, still no trouble.....

But after spending probably 40 minutes there i went to leave, turned the key and maybe let go 1 crank to early, and that was it..... it will now not run.
The best i have got is running for a second or 2 then cutting out...

fuel wise i have been running it on tesco momentum this past week, and had no issues

so if anybody could shine some light as to what may be causing it i would massively appreciate it

Can you hear the fuel pump priming? Also would be good to check if you can hear the fuel relay clicking.

Mine was stood for 36 hours at -4 to -7 degrees and was a bitch to start, 4 or 5 attempts, she usually goes first time every time. All it could of been was the cold, so yes, i could just be the temp.

You could have crank sensor failure due to the low temperatures.

cheers
