I'm asking this because I'm thinking about having the second map done on car with 10% Meths but not sure if it is readily available ? And does it damage engine running with Meths ? Cheers

your problem is the mixing. best value a 50 gallon drum with a dispenser. 45L of SUL at the garage 5L of methanol when you're back at your garage per tank. once the meth is in switch the map.

I do tend to get pretty funny looks as people wonder why you are filling your car up using a Gerry can in a petrol station if only they understood

As I understand it, the more meth, the more ignition advance that can be added. E85 is 85% ethanol (so not methanol, but similar effect) and that gets good results.
Methanol is very agressive, so can perish rubber fuel lines etc. I spilt some on the kitchen floor - it was the best clean it had had in ages .
That said, 20% is often used, but 10% is really easy to mix at the forecourt, as has been discussed. 10% gave me an extra 30bhp, and 20% would probably have given another 20
It's a trade off: convenience; power; risk to components designed for petrol rather than methanol.

yes those pumps and fuel lines will deteriorate faster with methanol.

not that you would, but 5ml injested orally will see all your organs shut down and you deader than a dead thing in about 48 hours. having said that we lash it into petrol tanks and plastic containers all the time without much precaution.

Methanol is pretty toxic I just try not to drink to much at once. Also if you spill it and it catches fire it burns with no flame. The only way you can see it is the heat haze.

10% meth gives marginally better results than 20% E85, the latter is safer to use but availability may be an issue. I always use gloves and a well ventelated area when I'm measuring the meth out. 10% inclusion is generally regarded as a safe amount and in 3years of use I've never had any issues and certainly never a question on the garage forcourt.
