Its will be a b it laggy especially if your taking alot smaller turbo off which kicks in at 2700 rpm and hits full boost by 3200. I think it will be neare 4000 rpm before your on full boost. These are only rough estimates.

Get a custom up pipe from Harvey it'll make all the difference in the world to the spool.

MD321t (same turbo AFAIK) on a 2 litre attached. Problems holding boost at the time hence the lowish hp reading ...

Mapped an RCM 420 and that was laggy as hell. Response was terrible and lag galore.

There is such a thing as lag if when you drop a cog it still takes ages to spool.

I hope you are not disappointed but I fear you may be.

No idea how this relates to my turbo, but I have an old RCM hybrid turbo on my 2.0 that is rated at a similar level i.e. up to 480 at 2.1Bar. So maybe not directly comparable, but probably not dissimilar either - starts going at around 3600 and is full on by 4k. Whilst it's undoubtedly slightly laggier than the original VF28 the power at 3600 is probably still more than the peak power of the vf28 and it goes on from there. I like it.

That is awesome , I want one! Do you know if it had the 58mm intake or the 76mm? Does the intake size make much difference?
Was it mapped using the existing ECU?

Yes on standard ecu but also on standard top mount too so that was severely limiting the amount of power/torque that could be got from it as it just isnt up for the job. (58mm inlet on that one) The owner will be fitting a fmic soon.

Quicker spool than the VF35 that came off the car in that particular case

at what point would you need to go from the 58mm inlet to the 76mm? would it affect spool and i`m guessing it would bolt straight up to the standard inlet pipe with the 58mm, plus thats awesome the fact it spools quicker than my vf35 and more power.

VF35 is probably slower to spool thanks to compressor surge making it have to be mapped to come in slow surely? Either way... wow at that boost level so early!

MD321T on 2l STi using 97ron.
EcuTek, Standard Top Mount and ScoobyClinic headers/uppipe

Have since changed to 100ron, Lateral Performance headers/uppie & Simtek. It now comes on boost earlier with 21psi at 3600 according to SimTek datalogging.

yep std sti tmic with i believe one of harvey's special uppipes.

People say (wrongly IMO) that the T is for a 2.5 litre - I think not. Works great with AVCS heads and good choice of uppipe.

What sort of power did it make at 1.5b? This time round I am defo trying Harveys uppipe.

That was peak boost.

The particular car made around 380 but stiill had most of the std exhaust on there and the tmic so those were holding it back significantly and will be fixed by the owner once he gets bored of 380.

We ran 1.5 bar peak boost to give it decent mid range torque.

Oh i see. What sort of boost would be needed on the T to max it out completely using Vpower, with full supporting mods? I'm not certain if its worth going for the V as it will make power easily with less boost but will lose 200-300rpm spool
