Hi mate STI 3 & 4 heads are far better as thay have better cams under bucket solied lifters and the heads flow better. put an add in the wanted section and you might get lucky?

hiya mate thanks for the info, im no specialist on impreza's but i am fairly handy with the spanners. i take it these heads are just a direct bolt on replacement then? or would i have to modify anything? thanks for your help

It also sounds like you have one of the early sti's

They did them in several batches. Have you got any pictures or the applied model code for the car handy?

Thay will fit straight on so you can use all your bolt on parts but make sure you get them complete with the cam covers as thay are different than the early ones. Before fitting the heads i would get them checked as thay might want a skim and re-check the valve clearances too?

hiya urrrm model code im not sure to be honest my cars currently in my mates workshop where i have been working on it. the only pics i have i will try and upload to my profile... it has small gold colour plates here and there, all saying 28 of 100. i believe the engine is the colsed deck block one, its not a red top. i decided while i had my engine in pieces due to headgasket problems i would go the full hog and remove the engine and forge the internals etc ye any help on establishing if my car is a version 1 sti would be well appriciated
