very high emissions that failed my mot
Well the car failed its mot today due to the very high emissions but still got complement from them on the condition of the car
they tried twice to get it through and both time it was way to high it came out at
1.50 the 1st time and 1.46 the second and they are ment to be 0.30
the lamda was also out was 0.965 and should be between 0.97 and 1.03
so my question is, is the lamda sensor knackerd? and if i put a sports cat on it will it go through as i only have the standard downpipe with cat in and its dead, if i put a sports cat on instead will it go trought or will i need a center cat aswell?
all help would be great as i now have to take the car off the road until its done so i want to get ordering the parts

The actual mixture level is indicated by the figure of 0.965 which is too rich. changing the cat won't fix that. Ask somebody competent to check that the lambda sensor is cycling.
