Default wiring external fuel pump??

Ok I've got my swirl pot and Bosch external pump all plumbed in, now I need to power the new pump.
Does the stock pump have a voltage controller to vary pump speed? if so does it need to be bypassed? or do I just link the original feed to trip a relay with a 12v feed from the battery? does the new external pump need some form of control or does it just run flat out from the unregulated 12v feed?
Basically I'm not sure how to correctly do this so any advice or peoples expriences most welcome.
