Default Key Fob

I used the car first thing this morning but when I got back home and turned off the engine, the key fob would no longer lock the car (53 plate). The lights on the dash are working and headlights but cannot get car started or lock the car.

Any ideas what it might be?

Thanks,

Keilly

First check would be the fob battery. Do you know the PIN code for your alarm system?
This is assuming you have the standard alarm.

Just off to get a replacement fob battery but I have no idea the PIN code for the alarm system? It is just the standard one. Do I need it? Is there a way of finding it out? We've had the car for the last 3 years bought from dealer but I can't remember ever being given a code.

Thanks for your help.

You can change the PIN yourself, but thats only if you have a working fob. Not sure what you'd have to do now, but knowing Subaru, it'll cost a few quid.
If they do have a code on file, it might not be the current code, as you can change it yourself.

I'd say get the fob battery ASAP, and hopefully the fob won't need pairing up to the alarm again. Because you can't do that, without a PIN.
Is the red light on the fob not showing at all when you press the button?

My code was on a small silver sort of sticker. 4 digit pin, stuck on the back of the handbooks front cover. You know the grey leather style wallet with service book etc in it? Worth a check if you have similar.
