Default Oil pressure light

Hi,

Is it common for the oil pressure warning light to gently flicker on cold morning just after starting..

I checked the level as best I could and all appeared fine. Once I restarted the car the light never came back on.. so far it this hasn’t repeated. I wanted to get your thoughts in case I'm missing a big issue that could blow.

I suppose it might if the car was stone cold, ie; no oil circulating , and the engine was not ticking over very fast.

However, if it were me, I'd be gettting an oil pressure check done.

Are you talking about when the car is turning over, mine once or twice but when it kicks into life it goes straight out.

If all is well, the light should go out immediatley the engine fires up and the pressure should climb to around 90psi at the fast idle speed of 1500rpm with the first start of the day. the pressure sender will trigger the light at something like 7psi
In your case I would hazard a guess at it being a sender fault rather than an oil pressure problem but in either case you should get it checked out ASAP
