The 1st one is the open neck one and the second is just a decat one. Look at the size of the hole at the end which goes to the turbo. The one you want is the 1st one, but remember you will need to have the car mapped for this and you say youve got a 97 wrx, does it have an aftermarket ecu, if not you will need to get a simtek (£1100) or a 2nd hand apexi for roughly £500 to run safely..

The diffrence is the first one flows better, the 2nd one is the same fitting except has half the hole blanked off like the standard one. Will fit your turbo no problem, fits any standard fit turbo. If your buying one its the openneck one you want, but i never buy anything off ebay mate. You would be better purchasing one from a reputable tuning company. You usually find the ones off ebay are crap quality and fit.

i would personaly say the 2nd one is a direct fit, sure enuff the first one is better flow, im pretty sure the 97 has lambda sensor just after the turbo

could be wrong but it worth checking yours first.

if you have a few spanners and what not you could just weld a flange on and tap the first one to make it fit

I'd go for a used one from a reputable manufacturer as opposed to one of unknown origin from Ebay. Take a look in the for sale section and buy a quality item.

the first one reduces to 2.5inch, whats the point??!??!?

I had the same dilema when i was choosing mine. ended up going to cobrasports (exhaustsuk) 3 inch all the way, open neck, next day delivery and a perfect fit. Took all of 30 mins to fit.

ok, i have just contacted the ebay seller regarding the difference in the necks, he said that The first one is bellmouth and the second one is a non bellmouth downpipe, so i need to get that checked before purchase

any idea if mine is a bellmouth type? as said i got a 1997-98 wrx import,

thanks

either will fit your car. its just a matter of choice. might as well go for the open neck, its supposed to flow better.
