just had my MY97 sport serviced. now it seems to have a lack of power below 2.5k rpm. is this normal after a service? will it resolve itself? i have tried giving it several full bores but this has'nt made any difference. anyone had similar? any advice gratefully received.
thanks

i have checked the oil and it is over full.
i did consider a timing problem but would that not affect the whole rev range ??? dont know too much about mechanics myself.
thx again 4 replying
any other info anyone???

Could be a number of problems but if the cambelt was replaced this is a possible culprit. Boost helps 'hide' the slight performance loss caused by retarded valve timing (boost is most noticable above 2500rpm!). Other possibilities are oil level too high (drain some off very carefully) or the ECU needs resetting. The later can be caused by the ECU detecting excessive knock when the engine is restarted after an oil change. Hope this helps.

oop's should read the thread properly!
Still, the oil change/cam belt scenario is still possible.
I have a '97 Sport and have experienced similar problems in the past. ECU reset usually helped though, (ie. not the cam belt).
