Question What on EARTH

Had a couple of jobs to do on the Impreza today and thought we'd combine them:
  • Replace and bleed clutch fluid
  • Perform the coolant bypass mod on the throttle body
Both were very straight forward, the clutch action is much improved and the bite is better too

However when we took off the intercooler to get some decent access, low and behold, the main black & yellow earth / ground lead from the battery was just sitting on top of the engine, not bolted to anything

Now the car has always been a little slow to start up and my interior lights and dash were quite dull but I assumed this was cos its a 10 year old car!

But, hey presto, with the negative cable properly connected, everything is brighter

The starter motor didnt look is it if had been replaced recently and I cant see why the cable would have been undone (and not reattached) - any guesses fellas?

Anyway - a productive day
