Default Help Loud whinning noise

Hoping someone can help me out with this one.

My 04 wrx has started making a loud whinning noise when driving normally. It happens when accerlerating, engine braking, coasting but a slight dab of brakes stops it instantly. Give it full revs and it wont do it. Noise is in all gears.

It only does it when the cars warm (fluids, brakes), when cold and at idle theres nothing.

Pin pointing where the noise is coming from is difficult, if pushed I would say the back of the car (might shove the girlfriend in the boot tomorrow as an extra pair of ears)

Only mods are ebc discs and yellow stuff pads (both not worn)

Any help will be appreciated.

i have had this before myself, it was being caused by a sticking piston in the brake caliper, hence no noise when stationary and goes under braking

Excellent, thanks alot both. Rear brakes were off today and greased, thought I'd change the pads while I was at it and all seems good now after a blast.

Tried changing the fronts but the locking pad pins are solid and won't move, any ideas?

Thanks again
