Noise from N/S Rear when turning right at speed
First post, hoping someone can help me!
I have a 94 Impreza Turbo.
It went into the garage a few weeks back to have both rear wheel bearings done. Since then there is a grinding type noise from the rear passenger side when cornering. The noise sounds like a wheel bearing, but it isn't. Its been back to the garage and they have changed the wheel bearing on that side again, just in case, however the noise is exactly the same.
It definitely wasn't there before the wheel bearings were done.
At the moment I am holding back payment for the job until it is sorted out, but they are struggling to find anything wrong, although they have heard the noise.
The noise is only there when under load, if you take a right hander while accelerating its there, if you back off the accelerator while still cornering, the noise goes. Its quiet when in a straight line and when taking left hand bends.
Can anyone make any suggestions as to what it could be?

Thanks, I will suggest that to them, they have had the car since Wednesday. Seems odd that it only does it under load though doesn't it?
They are talking about it possibly being the rear diff, but it only started when the wheel bearings were done so I am convinced that it must be something to do with that.
Lucky you said to only grease the BACK of the pad, I'll pass that on!

If you take the back drum off, have a look at the back plate around the radius if there are any marks, it shows the drum is catching the back plate, the back plate is made up from a sandwich of 2 plates water gets between the 2 plates and corrosion sets in and swells the plate the brake shoes rest on, it normally rubs on the top and bottom, have a look for any mark on the back plate.
welcome by the way

Thanks for that, I was thinking along the lines of the back plate too, I have read a few posts on the net pretty similar to your suggestion too.
Its possible that the plate was disturbed when the bearing was changed too isn't it?
Cheers for the welcome!
