Happy Hybrid FMIC customer :)
(Click for larger version...)
Finished installing a Hybrid FMIC from Harvey 2 weeks ago. This is on a MY97/98, but with a MY99/00 face lift front.
I had to cut the front bumper more than to my liking, but a set of fog light covers are now covering the mess. With a thin layer of black paint and the number plate on, I'm happy with the unobtrusive look. I was satisfied to see that the core did not protrude below the front bumper, as I have seen on quite a few pictures. Only on MY96 cars?
Only issues I have with the piping is a very tight fit between the timing belt- and fan cover (That might actually be down to a track day crash a few years back - leaving the front end of the car somewhat...ahem...out of alignment) and a the pipe connecting to the turbo outlet (could have been a tad shorter and angled a bit more).
Driving experience is, much to my surprise, that turbo lag is reduced. In fact, the PFC is now having problems limiting the rapid boost pressure increase in cold weather - which I now suspect is down to a too small wastegate in the VF29. Temporary fix is to use the stock mid section (w/CAT), to increase back pressure.
All in all, good value for money!
