boost gauge

if just fitted a boost gauge to my98
ive fitted the pipe next to the pipe for the dump valve on the manifold
and at full boost it reads 7 psi

something wrong there faulty gauge ????

think the cars got a blow in the manifold or the up pipe would this drop the boost
