Default Rear Washer Valve

The valve that is meant to stop water leaking from my rear washer under acceleration isn't working. My car is a V5 STi, I can't find it to to be able to replace it. Can anyone help please, where is it in the car?

It's not designed to stop water running out at all, its a one way valve to stop the water running back and then taking an age to come out when you hit the washers. So if it's succeeding at that, it's fine. Replacing it won't stop water coming out anyway!

But surely I'm not meant to be getting a large spray of water across the rear windscreen every time I put my foot down?

Is this not due to the pump wearing/becoming tired, fixed by replacing the pump?

The pump shouldn't be running, doesn't matter how worn it is!

Not sure why you get such a spary as you mention, it's not normal, but its nothing to do with the one-way valve.

You get the spray (well dribble) due to the g forces caused by the cars movement, its common on type R's, hence when the pump is worn the water pressure forces the water to pass through the pump (worn valve?) and leak.

The pump only costs about £12 and should be easy to replace so I think I will give it a go.

Just for the record, it was the valve located in the boot just under the washer/wiper assembly. I fitted a Halfords standard part, cost about £2.50 and took 10 minutes including the test drive afterwards.

Bump for this as it's happening in my MY99 UK Wagon. What was comical to start with is now a bloody annoyance and emptying my bloody washer tank

Do you get at this pipe/valve from inside the bootlid, where that plastic trim clips to the inner skin of the bootlid? Or is it different on a saloon to a wagon?

Also, which part did you use? If you could remember or advise me on size etc. you'll be a friend for life
