I have a MY99 impreza which is pretty much stock except for a turbo back decat exhaust. the past few weeks i've had a hesitation issue from 3rd gear up. At about 2500 the car starts hesitating pretty bad especially in 3rd and 4th. the hesitation lasts thru-out the whole rpm range. i had a buddy take a look and he though it could be the spark plugs.

we checked the coilpack an touched cylinders 1,2, and 4 where the wire plugs into the coil, but when we touched cylinder 3 wire it shocked us. we switched the wires, and whichever cylinder we put that wire on it shocked us. could that be the reason why my car is running like ****? anyone have any other ideas?

I had similar and it was found to be just the plug gaps were out - made horrid hesitation - gapped up and sorted.
