Timing Belt change...
Doing the timing belt on my 97 sti V4 type r and changing the Tensioner while im at it....
Is there any need to lock the cam pulleys? i dont have a tool for doing it so would ya get away without it.
Has anyone got a video of one being done? youtube has alot of stuff on it but no video showing everything....
thanks...

The driver's side pulleys are 'off-cam' when the timing marks are aligned.
Passenger side pulleys are 'on cam', but can just be positioned correctly for belt installation. No need to lock the pulleys, but they're likely to spin out of position when you remove the old belt.

Ye the right hand side ( looking at the engine) always are just on the edge so will spin off, but the other side are easy. Always work from left to right, making the slack come to the tensioner. makes it a lot easier.

no need really, if they spin off it doesn't matter, only when you belt it back up the double lines must match up in the center. LIN cam will be half a tooth off btw. anti clockwise.
