1. I could get rid of the MAF
2. I can run 2 maps I chose one full boost map and one to run on low octane fuel. I guess most people would opt for a high and low boost setting but my boost is controlled via my Apexi Avcr.
3. Anti lag and launch control, the anti lag is just a bit of fun (loud pops and bangs) but the launch control is a great weapon on the dragstrip

Whilst stationary select 1st gear then apply your right foot to the floor on the go faster pedal, if you have launch control the revs should hold at a predetermined rpm ie 4500 and you should hear a bit of popping and banging and your boost gauge should start to show +ive pressure.

I have two switches on my Simtek, one for anti-lag the other for a low boost map at 1.2 bar.Main boost is 1.6 bar.
The launch control is seperate from these and is armed on 1st gear and is always there.
The boost setting for LC is 0.8 bar, so on the start line I have my foot to the floor, the LC is holding the rpm at 5600rpm and the turbo actuator is holding boost at 0.8 bar.
This Bob Rawle programmed into the ECU for me. The boost could have been set higher but I get to much wheelspin as it is and also I want to keep my present gearbox etc.

still no nock control so personaly still wouldn't have one. although depends how much you wanna spend, personaly i'd spend more and get a syvecs, all of the benefits and no draw backs except cost.

"Current Simtek has knock detection (on individual cylinder) with option to map each cylinder for fuel and ignition.CEL is used to warn of det.
Knock control has been an ongoing project for far too long I admit. It will be available with a number of other updates (closed loop idle, wide band lambda control,3D AIT retard map, sensor diagnostics etc) but at present I can't give a firm date for the release"

copy and paste from 12 months ago, so still no nock control.
only thing holding it back form being best budget ecu out there as far as i can tell, not as capable as some of the others, but they are alot more expensive.

I personally think you can't beat a big fist coming out of the dash and landing you one on the nose in the event of detonation, that'll get you out of the throttle.

Thing is kncock control is only worthwhile having if it pulls enough timing/add enough fueling etc. (or whatever strategy it has programmed in) to TOTALLY STOP det from continuing. Anything less, and that feature ain't worth **** IMO.
For example, see Fiestaboy's post # 6 on the OEM ECU's IAM feature:-

And because of that very reason, I wholeheartedly agree with MJ above. Get yourself a Phormula KS3/4, as it has an audible warning - so therefore absolutely NO excuses...

Not so, if you have it set up to flash to warn of det and you just keep hammering it, you only have yourself to blame. Don't forget det can happen for a number of reasons that aren't specifically anything to do with ignition timing. Failing pumps, split vac hoses to pressure regs etc etc.
