Default what tyres

hiya all

Ive got a classic 94 wrx with 17in oz superleggas currently on 215x40x17 tyres which are well and truly knackered !!!!! its my understanding that usually its the norm to run 45 profile tyres on a scooby , I do have a full set of brand new kuhmos which are 225x45x17 will these fit without any mods to my arches

You have a classic, your tyre choice is 205/45/17 or 215/40/17, anything else is incorrect and will make your speedo too far out (and 225's will rub your arches).

Do you understand the legalities of the speedo under reading and over reading?
Having the incorrect tyre size on can cause your car to become illegal on the road, main issue is running an incorrect size that puts the running circumference out by x %
As above, the 2 classic sizes are 205/45/17 (official size)or 215/40/17 (unofficial size), NO OTHER SIZE!

hey tony, i agree with what you are saying don't get me wrong, but i used this websitehttp://www.kouki.co.uk/utilities/visual-tyre-size-calculator to check the speed issue and as far as i can make out 45 profile will 2.3% difference ie my speed will at 60 read 61.4 or at 30 it would be 30.7 not accurate i agree but what speedo is entirely accurate and is there a legal parameter?, with the 40 profile it would under read 30 would be 29.6 and 60 would be 59.3 so that is not right either, also altering tyre pressures and tyre wear would alter the readings due to sidewall height, p.s loved the debate on oils a couple of weeks ago!!! made very good reading

Yup the legal issue is that your speedo can over read by 10% but cannot under read, ie speedo says 30mph and your doing 31, illegal, doing 30 on the speedo and 28 real, legal.

Oil one was good new flat 4 may be better suited to lighter oils, just not this one
